In Loving Memoriam

Good bye my girl
What a good job you did, despite your unsecurity!
Your softness and sense of duty, your enourmous resilience ánd your humor
You were a fascinating personality
You were my girlie,
I so much enjoyed you!
For ever in my heart
Untill we meet again sweet girl!

Dasha, the day of her death

Dasha came on the 2nd October 2004. She is born on Augustus 4, 2004 in Belgium. Officially her name is Dasha du Pré du Vieux Pont. As there were breedings plans, we were looking for a bitch that would match Sicco regarding bloodline and that would have enough working abilities. As I didn't know a lot about the bloodlines then, I took the advice of another breeder and came to the Belgium breeder Le Pré du Vieux Pont.

Although Dasha seemed quite selfconfident in the litter, she appeared very frightful to people when she arrived home. By socializing her a lot this has changed and she goes to people right away. She has learned that most people have nice treats for her and that is what she goes for!

Dasha was a lady with lots of action in her body, but she seldom showed it, as she almost always did put herself "on the brakes". She was very uncertain of herself and needed time to get used to situations and people. With the years she improved and in the end she really loved people (and treats!). In her younger years she was very fast and had a very muscled body!Dasha almost 6 years old

In Obedience training the exercises didn't cost her much effort and for some tasty food she did everything. She was extremely smart and learned very fast. In familiar places she did the exercises with lots of enthusiasm and so she passed rapidly her G&G-Beginners and G&G1 exams. I competed in obedience with here. However, as soon as she felt the tension of a competition or exam, she didn't perform anymore. After competing 1,5 year I decided to stop this activity. Dasha showed very depressed in the matches, making it unpleasant for me as well. So why continuing something you both don't like?

My ex trained Dasha in Agility. After only half a year she was ready for matches. She competed and won some prices. In only 4 matches she was graduated to a higher level. The only thing is, that she is very tense and therefore not fast at all. She hardly makes a mistake, but always is over time. This made André stop with her.

Dasha was a very elegant, large bitch and quite some people fell for her looks. In show she did well. Her front could be more angled and she could have had more coat, but furthermore she was a beautiful girl.

At first she was easy to show, but later she knew the "trick" (and didn't like it) and it was very hard to let her show her ears properly. Therefore I stopped showing her.

In the beginning of 2006 I started tracking with Dasha. Now that really was something she got excited about! She loved doing it and showed a lot of joy. She worked very precise, but with a very high nose. I allowed her that, because I didn't wanted to put any pressure on her. She obtained partial IPO-I, IPO-II and IPO-III certificates for her tracking. She also pased the FH-I-exam. The final goal, FH-II, was too difficult for her, she got too confused by rabit tracks crossing thetrack..

In 2008 I bred a litter with her. She was a good mother, cleaning and feeding her puppies very thoroughly. However, she was very tense when the puppies crawled over her. She fed the puppies until 10 weeks of age and after that she didn't paid attention to them anymore. She apparently did not have a lot of joy in having a litter, so I was not intended to breed with her again. In addition it appeared that half a year after her litter she developed a light form of partial epilepsy. It did not cause a lot of discomfort, she was only very "drunk" for about 5-10 minutes and after that she continued her day as if nothing happened. But this excluded her from breeding.

Dasha had a long lilfe and walked with the pack until the last moments. A month before her death she started to pee in the house. Blood work showed a problem with her liver. It got worse and then one day she stopped eating. She was very calm, but was in pain. As not much could be done, after 4 days I gave her peace. She slept in very peacefully.
